Day 26 - Mama Bad Butt
I never want to call my son bad...I always just want to point out his bad behavior and make him learn and understand how not to continue that bad behavior. Most times, I can get away with it.
Today, Micah wasn't having it...
I picked him up from Daddy's house and brought him over to Grandma. Since we didn't go over yesterday, I thought it would be nice to at least spend 30 minutes there, even though I would love to go home and lay in my bed.
Needless to say, the visit did not go as planned...
First, Micah wanted to be carried from the car to the front door. Well, I'll oblige him on that. It was cold out and I wanted to hurry up and get inside. I had to put him down in front of the door in order to grab my key and unlock the door. This is where he decides to completely fall out.
The picture above is actually him laying on the front door step (cold concrete) to show me that he was not getting up until I carried him upstairs. When I tried to grab him and bring him inside, he started flailing his arms at me and yelling "No! Stop!" Well, today was not the day...I wanted to be in and out of Grandma's house in no more than 30 minutes and here we are battling at her front door.
I told him very calmly, "Micah, that is not nice. You have to get up so we can go see Mom-Mom. Don't you want to see Mom-Mom?"
Micah: Mom-Mom?
Me: Yes.
Micah: No!
Me: Why not?
Micah: Bad butt!
Me: Who's a bad butt, Micah? Mom-Mom?
Micah: No...you! Mama!
Excuse me...did my toddler son just call me a bad butt?
Micah: Mama bad butt!
Me: Let's go...time to get up! (I grabbed him and brought him inside)
Micah: (swinging his arms trying to hit me) No! Stop! Bad butt!
Me: Micah, I don't have time for this...let's go!
Micah: Nooooooooo!
Grandma: (opens door) Who's beating my baby?
Micah: (crying and screaming) Mom-Mom! Mom-Mom!
He wasn't crying the entire time. As soon as he hears Grandma, he starts hollering as though I was killing him.
Me: Get upstairs now!
Micah: (climbing upstairs) Mom-Mom! No! Stop! Mom-Mom! Mama bad butt! (crying and screaming)
Well, we were able to get in and out as planned because once Micah got up the stairs, he laid on Grandma while giving me the evil eye the entire time and fell asleep within minutes. Once he's asleep, I'm out the door. We really only visit so she can see Micah and now that he's asleep - it's time to go!
Maybe his tantrum was really a blessing in disguise...who knows?!
