Snot Everywhere

In my haste to teach Micah everything in the world, I did the worst thing I could ever do -- I taught Micah how to blow his nose.

Now, I know you might be saying what's the harm in teaching him how to do this and how a great idea it is for him to learn more about being independent.  Yeah, that would be great if he was any child other than Micah.

Micah, in his infinite means to do thing just his way, decided to take things just a step further...

As we all have learned so far, Micah likes to do things his way.  He barely pays any attention to me when I'm teaching him something new, but he always tends to walk away with the lesson learned.  Sometimes, it completely drives me nuts and other times it just makes me realize how much he's like his Daddy and I.

Micah got a little sick since about Friday night.  He has been coughing since then and yesterday he got a slight fever and a runny nose.  All day today his temperament has been up and down as his fever spikes at certain times of the day.

The last time he was sick, I worked very hard to teach him how to blow his nose, reducing the length of time that he would stay sick.  We made a little game out of it.  I showed him to squinch his face and blow from his nose.  It's the cutest thing ever.

That is...until Micah started using me as his human tissue.

The first time he did it, he was sitting on my lap as we were watching TV.  He rubbed his nose on me, then looked at me with that beautiful cheshire cat grin that he uses to distract you.  It worked, because I did not even realize that he just blew his nose on my shirt.

The next time I noticed it, it was pretty obvious.  I had just gotten out the shower and was looking through my dresser drawers to decide what I was going to wear.  He grabbed a few of my shirts out of the drawer and proceeded to blow his nose on each of the shirts. Ewwww!!!!

It really made me start to wonder what else he was blowing his nose on...as I thought about it in more detail, I had the visual flashing through my mind.

He blew his nose on the carpet...twice.
He blew his nose on my towel...as I was in the shower.
He blew his nose on my pants...when I making lunch.
He blew his nose on the sofa...when I was feeding him French fries from my desk.
He blew his nose on the curtain...when he helped me to open them up to let some sunshine in.
He blew his nose in my hair...when he was trying to jump on my back as I picked up his toys.

I'm assuming you're getting how bad this is at this point.  I'm getting ready to go disinfect my entire apartment just to make sure I get all of the snot that has obviously conquered my apartment.

Oh yeah, I just thoroughly cleaned my apartment yesterday for Clean Up Saturday...I guess I'm also going to have Clean Up Sunday Night.  Hope you enjoyed it! I sure didn't...smh! :)
