Every time we go to the pediatrician's office, something funny ALWAYS happens. I honestly think I'm going to create a series just on this topic alone. Micah seems to get overly excited in the waiting room of the doctor's office. As soon as we walk in, he heads out on a journey to touch everything in sight. And this is usually where all the funny stuff happens.
The last time, he got Stuck in a Box. I didn't think that anything could have been funnier than that, but I was sorely mistaken.
Micah made a new friend at the doctor's office. Another little boy was there with his mom and awaiting being called to the back.
It's strange because Micah only makes friends in the "sick" waiting room and never in the "well" waiting room. Probably because the sick waiting room is huge in comparison. He just looks at all of the kids in the well waiting room as though they are aliens from another planet. He doesn't want to go anywhere near them.
But in the sick waiting room, he becomes so open and free, willing to play with everyone there...
Today, there was a slightly different set-up. Usually, all the chairs are along the walls; today, there were some chairs in the center of the room. Very unusual, but I didn't think much about it. That is...until Micah kept slamming into the chair.
Every time he ran around the room, he would slam into these same chairs in the center of the room. Each time I would say, "Micah...be careful". Slam! He would smack into the chair.
He wouldn't even cry...he just looked at the chairs as though he was trying to decipher its origin. That's the only way I can explain it. He was trying to figure where the heck those chairs came from.
At first, every one would gasp every time he hit the chair and look at me to make him stop. Hey, the boy is on his own. I gave him the warning, what more should I do? Sometimes to he has to learn certain lessons on his own. He's obviously not hurt if he just gets right back up and starts running again. When he's hurt, he will come over to me to make him feel better. Until then, let him be a boy.
After the second and third time, I think everyone else gave up too. The entire room would erupt in laughter every time he hit the chair. And he would look at all of us in the same manner as Stewie in Family Guy as to say, "How dare you?"
What made it even funnier was that Micah's new friend was now doing the same thing to get attention. I don't know how Micah always ends up being the leader, but he does. Good thing? Bad thing? We'll find out in the years to come.
In the end, Micah's friend had to leave...Micah cried his eyes out. His friend came over and gave Micah a hug and said, "There, there, baby". Well, Micah snapped. "No baby...big boy!"
With that, he was over his new friend. He got up, wiped his tears, and started running around the room again. I guess the moment is over...they are no longer friends.
My son is something...smh!
Here's a video of Micah running around with his friend,
when they were friends...lol
